Resumo: The archaeological research which has developed in different fields of the so-called "archaeology of production", has led us to a new crossroad in the framework of the study of economics in the ancient world. This paradigm shift has made it difficult to contemplate the transport of liquid and semi-liquid substances purely in terms of "canonical" amphorae. It is becoming increasingly evident that the Roman world used other types of containers as well, both ceramic (flat-bottomed amphorae) and perishable (wineskins and barrels), to cover all segments of the marketing process, from packaging to redistribution in the area of consumption centers. The archaeological records of the Roman military camp at ancient León allow us some considerations on this topic.
