This paper presents the capacity of the modern hand-held computers – Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), when used in medical set, taking advantages of its multimedia ability. Knowing that the physicians spend portion of their time doing secondary work, like manual writing the patient report, it seems necessary to find a solution that frees the doctor of that type of functions, in order to increase the “clinical time”. Using a voice recording system to create the medical report enables a natural way of data creation, allowing this to be, later, transcript to text, helped with headphones and a “foot-pedal” that controls the time evolution of audio sequence. It is even possible the keep the voice reports together with the patient folder in the hospital data base, which can be listened, at any time, as they were created by the physician. This paper presents the system development and the integration on a clinical information system.
