Resumo: Psychopathy has, at its base, a set of personality traits characterized by a lack of remorse, empathy and callousness. Emotional recognition seems to be compromised in people with high levels of psychopathy, so moral judgment can, consequently, become more utilitarian, given the possible attenuation of remorse in the face of causing harm to others. The present study has a community sample and archival data from a forensic sample, aiming to understand how psychopathy affects moral judgment, as well as the potential moderating effect of emotional recognition on the relationship between these. The participants' intellectual capacity was controlled using Raven's Progressive Matrices, psychopathy was measured using Levenson's Psychopathy Self-Report Scale (1995), an emotional recognition task was performed on faces, using stimuli from the Radboud base and, finally, a moral judgment task, involving the 12 high conflict dillemas by Green et al. (2008). The results show the absence of difference between the two groups in the levels of psychopathy, capacity for emotion recognition and moral judgment. However, there are predictive effects of psychopathy on the variables of interest.
