Este documento contém três partes: o Relatório de Estágio de Farmácia Comunitária, o Relatório de Estágio de Indústria Farmacêutica e a Monografia. O Estágio de Farmácia Comunitária foi realizado na Farmácia Loureiro Basto, no período de 10 de janeiro a 21 de abril de 2022, com orientação da Dra. Maria Helena Basto e o de Indústria Farmacêutica, iniciou a 2 de maio e terminou a 29 de julho de 2022, sob orientação da Dra. Catarina Silva. Nos relatórios é efetuada uma análise SWOT onde são descritos os Pontos Fortes, os Pontos Fracos, as Oportunidades e as Ameaças reconhecidos no decorrer dos estágios. A monografia é intitulada de “Avanços na Imunoterapia na prevenção e tratamento da Diabetes Mellitus tipo 1”. A Diabetes Mellitus tipo 1 é uma doença autoimune, caraterizada por uma perda de massa e de função das células β do pâncreas secretoras de insulina, provocando uma hiperglicemia, falta de glicose nas células e diversos problemas nos tecidos e órgãos. A causa da doença ainda não é conhecida, mas acredita-se que interações genéticas e ambientais possam impulsionar a patologia. Diferentes biomarcadores estão a ser investigados para estudar o estádio da doença e o seu desenvolvimento. Atualmente, a insulina exógena é a única terapia disponível para a Diabetes Mellitus tipo 1, no entanto uma nova proposta de uma terapia surgiu, a imunoterapia, já utilizada em diversas doenças autoimunes. Várias abordagens imunoterapêuticas foram estudadas ao longo dos anos, mas para já, a imunoterapia não consegue retardar ou tratar a Diabetes Mellitus tipo 1, devido a vários obstáculos, mas já existem estudos com resultados promissores por um determinado tempo. Novos estudos de imunoterapia na Diabetes Mellitus tipo 1 estão em constante evolução, para que esta seja uma terapia eficaz num futuro próximo.This document was prepared as part of the curricular unit "Internship" of the Integrated Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra. This document contains three parts: the Community Pharmacy Internship Report, the Pharmaceutical Industry Internship Report, and the Monograph. The Community Pharmacy Internship was carried out at Farmácia Loureiro Basto, from January 10th to April 21st, 2022, under the guidance of Dr. Maria Helena Basto and the Pharmaceutical Industry, started on May 2nd and ended on July 29th, 2022, under the guidance of Dr.Catarina Silva. A SWOT analysis is carried out in the reports, where the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats recognized during the internships are described. The monography is entitled “Advances in Immunotherapy in the prevention and treatment of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus”. Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is an autoimmune disease, characterized by a loss of mass and function of pancreas β cells insulin secreting, causing hyperglycemia, lack of glucose in cells and various problems in tissues and organs. The cause of the disease is not yet known, but genetic and environmental interactions are thought to boost the pathology. Different biomarkers are being investigated to study the stage of the disease and its development. Currently, exogenous insulin is the only available therapy for Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, however a new proposal for a therapy has emerged, immunotherapy, which is already used in several autoimmune diseases. Several immunotherapeutic approaches have been studied over the years, but for now, immunotherapy can’t delay or treat type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, due to several obstacles, but there are already studies with promising results for a certain time.
