Resumo: | This article seeks to draw attention to the growing appreciation of the profile of the preacher "embodied" by various religious in Portugal in post-Trent times. Starting from the analysis of texts that fall within the vein of hagiography or sacred biography, the importance of preaching is underlined, developed within the scope of the strategies of catechizing and disciplining behavior promoted by the Catholic Church, as well as the ways in which it contributes for the crystallization of a famasanctitatis of these "men illustrious in virtue". |
