The Order of Christ, from its beginning in the fourteenth century, reflected a devotional spirituality that included the cult of the warrior saints and martyrs, a reflection of its religious and military matrix, already inherited from the Templars. The sources used for this study are the records of visitations made to the churches of the Order of Christ between 1462 and 1536. Through these notes it is possible to identify the venerated saints in churches and hermitages, as well as in chapels and altars within these temples, in about half a hundred locations. The warrior saints and martyrs are particularly worshiped in places associated with the conventual seat and the defense of the frontier, both Muslim and Castilian.
