Resumo: The purpose of this paper is to suggest a method to study the editorial conception of the early humanistic prints of Latin classical authors. We have defined the set of relevant variables, —both paratextual and textual— which contribute to clarify the development of the printed editions during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, taking into account those which are usually involved in the interpretation of the elements that allow us to understand the conception of edition that underlies these early prints. This article analizes the external paratextual elements (title page, preface and colophon) on the basis of fifteenth and sixteenth centuries editions of Martianus Capella (1499‐1599).

Para ello hemos definido el conjunto de variables relevantes —tanto de carácter paratextual como propiamente textual— que contribuyen a esclarecer el planteamiento que subyace en la elaboración de las ediciones impresas en los siglos XV y XVI y que intervienen habitualmente en la interpretación que se hace en este periodo de los textos objeto de edición. En este trabajo el análisis se centra en el tratamiento de diversos elementos paratextuates (portada, título, colofón y prefacios) ilustrando esta metodología de análisis sobre las ediciones de los s. XV y XVI de la obra de Marciano Capela (1499‐1599).L’objectif de ce travail est de proposer une méthode pour l’étude de la conception éditoriale des premières éditions humanistes des textes latins de l’Antiquité. Pour ce faire, nous définissons l’ensemble des variables plus importantes – aussi bien paratextuelles que textuelles – qui peuvent aider à clarifier l’abordage sous‐jacent à l’élaboration des éditions imprimées des XVe et XVIe siècles et qui sont, généralement, associées à l’interprétation faite à cette époque‐là des textes soumis à l’édition. Dans ce travail, l’analyse se centre sur le traitement des différents éléments paratextuels (page de garde, titre, colophon et préfaces), illustrant cette méthodologie de l’analyse dans les éditions des XVe et XVIe siècles de l’oeuvre de Martianus Capella (1499‐1599).A finalidade deste trabalho é propor um método de análise para o estudo da conceção editorial das primeiras edições humanistas dos textos latinos da Antiguidade.
