Hoje é incontornável a importância desta atividade para a economia, pela sua capacidade de gerar receitas e riqueza. No entanto, o turismo tem sofrido algumas mudanças ao longo dos últimos anos. Na verdade, estamos perante uma atividade económica que tem emergido como um verdadeiro fenómeno social.No caso concreto desta dissertação, procuramos aprofundar os conhecimentos sobre o território da Serra da Estrela e das suas potencialidades. A Serra da Estrela tem sofrido profundas mudanças ao longo dos últimos anos, que resultaram numa constante alteração dos fenómenos turísticos desenvolvidos em prol da mesma, como o Geoparque e o Geoturismo. Como tal, este estudo tem diferentes objetivos, porém destacamos em particular um deles, conseguir compreender qual a perceção que os atores locais têm sobre a importância do Geoturismo para o desenvolvimento turístico no Estrela Geopark, alicerçado na criação do Estrela Geopark Mundial da UNESCO.Assim sendo, e de modo a conseguir responder ao objetivo referido anteriormente, decidimos optar por aplicar uma metodologia que nos possibilita compreender perceções e opiniões, a Metodologia Q. Mesmo antes da aplicação metodológica, é importante revermos alguns conceitos importantes para a estruturação deste documento, como o de Geoturismo, Geoparques e da própria Perceção. Do estudo apresentado resulta a identificação de novas estratégias a desenvolver no território da Serra da Estrela para alavancar o Geoturismo e os Geoparques Mundiais da UNESCO, o que contribui de forma positiva para a afirmação de uma marca turística forte e estruturada para este território.Tourism is a relevant economic and social activity, which appropriates territories and is structured through the attractiveness that they exert. Today, the importance of this activity for the economy is unavoidable, due to its ability to generate income and wealth. However, tourism has undergone some changes over the past few years. In fact, we are facing an economic activity that has emerged as a true social phenomenon.In the specific case of this dissertation, we seek to deepen our knowledge about the territory of Serra da Estrela and its potential. Serra da Estrela has undergone profound changes over the last few years, which have resulted in a constant change in the tourist phenomena developed in its favor, such as the Geopark and Geotourism. As such, this study has different objectives, but we highlight one of them in particular, to understand the perception that local actors have about the importance of Geotourism for tourism development in Estrela Geopark, based on the creation of Estrela UNESCO Global Geopark.Therefore, and in order to respond to the aforementioned objective, we decided to choose to apply a methodology that allows us to understand perceptions and opinions: the Q Methodology.
