Resumo: | According to the literature, formative assessment presents many advantages for the participants during and after the teaching and learning processes, particularly in the reorganization of the teaching methods and in the awareness of student difficulties. The features, nature and utility of formative assessment requires an ongoing process of interaction and communication between the stakeholders, ensuring consistent and effective exchange of information. The knowledge and description of the resources and educational materials used in higher education contribute to the understanding of the relationship between teaching, assessment and learning. This study falls within the scope of the project AVENA – “Assessment, Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in Portugal and Brazil: Realities and Perspectives”, regarding some of the data collected at the University of Coimbra, through 160 hours of observation from 8 undergraduate courses, representing 4 scientific areas (Arts and Humanities, Health Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences). In general, the data emphasize the systematic use of the online academic management platform at the University of Coimbra as a tool to support the organization of courses and classes, allowing continuous availability of all content and other important information. According to the data there are also some differences in the use of certain resources and materials, such as the PowerPoint or the traditional blackboard, associated with the specificity of each scientific area and with the teachers’ knowledge, skills, experiences and preferences. |

According to the data there are also some differences in the use of certain resources and materials, such as the PowerPoint or the traditional blackboard, associated with the specificity of each scientific area and with the teachers’ knowledge, skills, experiences and preferences.
