Estes momentos de investigação culminam numa proposta de projeto que procura responder a problemas identificados no edifício, recuperando a relação que outrora teve com a Paisagem e reabilitá-lo de forma a que, mantendo a sua identidade, possa acompanhar a evolução dos tempos; PALINGENESIS IN THE FORMER SANITORIUM OF MONTE DA PENA Reveal a Lost Relationship with the Landscape Abstract: This master’s thesis presents a project proposal for a new cycle in the old Sanatorium of Monte da Pena based on an investigation about the sanatorium typology, the premises of anti-tuberculosis architecture and its influences on the way of thinking about architecture that are consolidated in the Modern Movement. With the concern about the lifestyle and well-being of the population in view of the unhealthy conditions of the beginning of the 20th century, a health system responsible for the construction of three anti-tuberculous sanatoriums and a dispensary for the treatment of its employees. It appears that two of them are rehabilitated and perform different functions and are presented with a sanatorium without any type of current use, the Former Sanatorium Presidente Carmona, in Paredes de Coura. The second part of this thesis begins with an analysis of its genesis and morphological evolution, understanding of the relationship with the territory, carrying out an architectural survey, as well as a photographic documentation of its current situation. These moments of investigation culminate in a project proposal that seeks to respond to problems identified in the building, recovering the relationship it once had with the Landscape and rehabilitating it so that, maintaining its identity, it can follow the evolution of the times. |
