Resumo: The world’s biggest killers. Non-communicable diseases constitute the biggest health threat to humankind. Due to their complex nature, their accurate diagnosis, which is fundamental to subsequent treatment, imposes a significant hurdle to the global health-workforce. In this work, AI’s supporting role in diagnostics for NCDs was assessed by conducting expert interviews with medical AI professionals, with results being analyzed using a SWOT framework. Owing to its efficiency-and accuracy-enhancing ability, healthcare institutions are advised to harness AI as a strategic tool for diagnostics to combat premature mortality from NCDs. The complementation of humans and AI shall be a guiding principle.
