COVID-19, in addition to a respiratory virus, is the engine of several global changes in several domains, both in the short, medium and long term. For this reason, it is important for mental health professionals to assess how the changes underway impact the population and which groups are the most vulnerable, in order to design interventions that can respond to difficulties. The aim of the study was to assess the pandemic impact on portuguese population. A Google Forms questionnaire was created and shared through social networks, to collect sociodemographic data, general concerns and salutogenic behaviours, DASS21 and IES-R scales. Between 19 and 13 April, 217 people participated in the study, 166 females and 51 males aged 18 to 74 years (M = 40 years, SD = 11, 67). 72.4% showed normal levels of stress and 70.5% normal levels of depression. 53.9% reported moderate to severe levels of anxiety. As for IES-R, 68.7% had no psychological impact. Women levels higher than men in stress, anxiety, and depression. As for the current professional situation, the categories ?Retired?, ?Student?, ?Unemployed? and ?Suspended work? got the higher scores, with ?Student? being the highest on IES-R and Stress, and ?Unemployed? being the highest in Anxiety and Depression. People with chronic illnesses also outperform the four measures. The perception of good or very good general health contributes to lower levels of anxiety, depression, stress and psychological impact. As hours of confinement negative impact on the levels of stress, anxiety and depression and even more on the psychological impact felt. Regarding the available information, it was found that those who most need additional information also have higher levels of stress, anxiety and depression. |
