Resumo: The nutrition appointment in Hospital of Prelada receives patients from other medical specialties. The kind of treatment a patient that suffers from obesity is subjected (placement of gastric balloon or band and/or plastic surgery) depends on the patient profile and on his reaction to the treatments he is being subjected. The intervention of each medical specialty on a patient depends on his own evolution and always that is necessary for a better physical and mental health. The nutrition appointment plays an important role before, during and after the loss of weight. It is desired that each patient changes slowly and gradually his alimentary and exercise habits from early stages. The new habits adopted should be maintained in order to keep the positive results obtained.

The new habits adopted should be maintained in order to keep the positive results obtained.Para o tratamento da Obesidade, no Hospital da Prelada, existe uma equipa multidisciplinar, da qual faz parte importante a consulta de Nutrição. Os doentes que são enviados para acompanhamento nutricional, são enviados pelas várias especialidades do hospital ou pelo médico de família. O tipo de tratamento a que o doente obeso pode ser submetido (colocação ou não de balão intragástrico e/ou banda gástrica e/ou cirurgia plástica) vai depender do perfil do doente e da resposta que este oferece aos tratamentos que vão decorrendo. Especificamente nos doentes obesos, a consulta de Nutrição desempenha um importante papel antes, durante e após a perda de peso. Pretende‑se que o individuo altere lenta e gradualmente os seus hábitos alimentares e de prática de actividade física desde cedo. As alterações conseguidas devem ser mantidas ao longo do tempo para a manutenção dos resultados obtidos.
