Inclusive Travelers Books: talking about LGBT issues in kindergartens and primary schools

Resumo: This article presents the 'Inclusive Traveling Books' project, developed by SEIES - Society for Studies and Intervention in Social Engineering, in partnership with school libraries, in elementary schools in the municipality of Setúbal. The ‘Inclusive Traveling Books’ project aims to promote activities in the school context on non-discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The central focus of the project is the potential of children's literature to promote an inclusive society based on respect for diversity. Over the school years in which it was implemented, from 2015 to 2019, the 'Inclusive Traveling Books' project had as its main results, in the 5 school clusters involved, the development of activities to explore children's books with 20 pre-school classes and 156 classes from the 1st cycle, with a total of about 4,000 children. Within the scope of this project, the training workshop READING FOR EQUALITY was held, in partnership with the Higher School of Education of Setúbal, with the aim of meeting the training needs of the teachers involved. The activities carried out in the context of training and the impacts on the professional practice of the participants are presented and analyzed.

El proyecto ‘Libros Viajeros Inclusivos’ tiene como objetivo promover actividades en el contexto escolar sobre la no discriminación por orientación sexual e identidad de género. El eje central del proyecto es el potencial de la literatura infantil para promover una sociedad inclusiva basada en el respeto a la diversidad. Durante los años escolares en los que se implementó, de 2015 a 2019, el proyecto 'Libros Viajeros Inclusivos' tuvo como principales resultados, en los 5 grupos de escuelas involucrados, el desarrollo de actividades de exploración de libros infantiles con 20 clases de preescolar. y 156 clases del 1er ciclo, con un total de unos 4.000 niños. En el marco de este proyecto, se llevó a cabo el taller de formación LECTURA PARA LA IGUALDAD, en colaboración con la Escuela Superior de Educación de Setúbal, con el objetivo de satisfacer las necesidades de formación de los profesores implicados. Se presentan y analizan las actividades realizadas en el contexto de la formación y los impactos en la práctica profesional de los participantes.Cet article présente le projet ‘Livres voyageurs inclusifs’, développé par SEIES - Société d'études et d'intervention en ingénierie sociale, en partenariat avec les bibliothèques scolaires, dans les écoles élémentaires de la municipalité de Setúbal. Le projet ‘Livres voyageurs inclusifs’ vise à promouvoir des activités dans le contexte scolaire sur la non-discrimination fondée sur l'orientation sexuelle et l'identité de genre. L'objectif central du projet est le potentiel de la littérature pour enfants à promouvoir une société inclusive fondée sur le respect de la diversité. Au cours des années scolaires où il a été mis en œuvre, de 2015 à 2019, le projet ‘Livres voyageurs inclusifs’ a eu comme principaux résultats, dans les 5 groupes d'écoles impliquées, le développement d'activités d'exploration de livres pour enfants avec 20 classes préscolaires et 156 classes du 1er cycle, avec un total d'environ 4 000 enfants. Dans le cadre de ce projet, l'atelier de formation LIRE POUR L'ÉGALITÉ a été organisé, en partenariat avec l'École supérieure d'éducation de Setúbal, dans le but de répondre aux besoins de formation des enseignants concernés. Les activités réalisées dans le cadre de la formation et les impacts sur la pratique professionnelle des participants sont présentés et analysés.Este artigo apresenta o projeto 'Livros Viajantes Inclusivos', desenvolvido pela SEIES - Sociedade de Estudos e Intervenção em Engenharia Social, em parceria com as bibliotecas escolares, nas escolas do ensino básico do concelho de Setúbal. O projeto ‘Livros Viajantes Inclusivos’ tem como objetivo promover atividades em contexto escolar sobre a não discriminação com base na orientação sexual e na identidade de género. O foco central do projeto é o potencial da literatura infantojuvenil para a promoção de uma sociedade inclusiva e baseada no respeito pela diversidade. Ao longo dos anos letivos em que foi implementado, de 2015 a 2019, o projeto 'Livros Viajantes Inclusivos' teve como principais resultados, nos 5 agrupamentos de escolas envolvidos, o desenvolvimento de atividades de exploração de livros infantis com 20 turmas do pré-escolar e 156 turmas do 1º ciclo, num total de cerca de 4.000 crianças. No âmbito deste projeto foi realizada a oficina de formação LER PARA A IGUALDADE, em parceria com a Escola Superior de Educação de Setúbal, com o objetivo de dar resposta às necessidades de formação das/os docentes envolvidas/os.
