Resumo: The present dissertation proposes an in-depth study around the scenic spaces and the Performing Arts, focusing on Dance and the importance of its relationship with the architectural space. Based on the presented bibliography, interviews, workshops and conferences, the thesis touches the progressive evolution in the fields of Dance, the technical and functional devices that compose the scenic spaces as well as its configuration since the beginning of the 20th century. The technical development is highlighted by the following four case studys, Grande Auditório Calouste Gulbenkian, by the architects Alberto Pessoa, Pedro Cid and Ruy d'Athouguia (1964), Auditório de Léon by Mansilla and Tuñón (2002), Théâtre et Auditorium de Poitiers by the architect Carrilho da Graça (2008), and Arquipélago - Centro de Artes Contemporâneas by the architectural firm Menos é Mais associated to the architect João Mendes Ribeiro (2012).
