Ecoeficiência na indústria : o que não se pode medir não se pode gerir

A protecção do ambiente e a inclusão da componente ambiental nas estratégias de gestão da actividade industrial ganha novos contornos através do conceito de ecoeficiência. Pelo que continuar a negligenciar o ambiente por questões de viabilidade económica das actividade deixa de poder ser considerada uma justificativa credível. Com este trabalho pretendia-se a elaboração de um Manual de Avaliação de Ecoeficiência para a Indústria, pelo que estrategicamente se dividiu a investigação em dois domínios. A investigação de carácter teórico e técnico visou a assimilação do conhecimento do tipo de sistemas que existem na indústria e o seu funcionamento, a detecção de falhas e oportunidades de melhoria, e ainda pressupôs o levantamento de toda a legislação vigente no âmbito da indústria em geral. De seguida foi feita uma investigação de carácter prático, de modo a garantir a operacionalidade e aplicabilidade da Lista de Verificação desenvolvida. A verificação da lista em campo permitiu demonstrar a aplicação da lista a qualquer sector industrial, bem como garantir a sua aplicação prática. Dessa investigação e pesquisa resultou o Manual de Avaliação de Ecoeficiência para a Indústria. Esta ferramenta contempla a metodologia das auditorias de ecoeficiência, a listagem de toda a informação que deve ser recolhida, o tratamento de dados quantitativo que deve ser dado a essa informação e por fim como deve ser feita a apresentação dos resultados. A ecoeficiência na indústria permite dar resposta a problemas actuais no domínio da economia e ambiente, sendo o papel do sector industrial na protecção do ambiente é crucial e é urgente que passe a ser uma realidade a inclusão da componente ambiental no quotidiano da actividade industrial. Pretende-se com este trabalho contribuir para a melhoria da performance da indústria de forma rigorosa técnica e cientificamente e ao mesmo tempo de forma prática. ABSTRACT: Environmental protection and inclusion of environmental component in the management strategies of the industry gained new contours through the concept of eco-efficiency. So continue to ignore the environment due to economic viability of the activity no longer be considered a credible explanation. This work was to the development of a Manual for the Assessment of Ecoefficiency for Industry, which is strategically divided into two research areas. The investigation of the theoretical and technical knowledge aimed at assimilation of the type of systems that exist in the industry and its operation, the detection of failures and opportunities for improvement, and also assumed the lifting of all existing legislation within the industry in general. Next, it was made an investigation of a practical nature to ensure the operability and applicability of Checklist developed. The checklist in the field has demonstrated the application of the list to any industry and ensure its implementation. Such investigation and research resulted in a Manual for the Evaluation of Industrial Ecoefficiency. This tool includes the methodology of ecoefficiency audits, the list of all information to be collected, the quantitative processing of information and finally how to present the results (communication). The eco-efficiency in the industry can respond to current problems in the field of economy and environment, and the role of industry in environmental protection is crucial and it is urgent that it will become a reality to include the environmental component of industrial activity in daily life. It is with this work to help improve the performance of industry in technical and scientifically rigorous while in practice.
