Resumo: This article describes the work done on the development of a Near Video on Demand system. The system is divided in several blocks, which were independently developed, although they are not autonomous. Thus, the main development effort was focused in the following subsystems: video channels coding (pseudo-dynamic encryption), video server and access controller, data transmission, both for downstream (server - terminal equipment) and upstream (terminal equipment - system manager) and an overall system management software.

O sistema está dividido em alguns blocos que, apesar de não serem autónomos, foram desenvolvidos separadamente.
