Evaluation of the role of the health research networks in knowledge translation

Resumo: In this article we present a review of the principles of knowledge translation and some of the main theoretical and conceptual models of knowledge translation. Additionally we add some grounds for the need to evaluate the role of the health research networks, as well as the translation and application processes of scientific knowledge. The collaborative research networks are expanding globally and play an important role in terms of innovation. In sectors where knowledge is developing rapidly, as in health, there is evidence that an intense activity of inter-organizational networks can be a promoter of innovative processes impacting on the health of populations. It is essential to understand this complex structure of multi-faceted activities, particularly through the development of evaluative research, because its results will enable the improvement of the institutions performance and the implementation of knowledge translation processes.

As redes de colaboração em investigação estão em expansão em termos globais e desempenham um papel importante em termos de inovação. Nos sectores onde o conhecimento se está a desenvolver de forma rápida, como é o caso da saúde, há evidência de que uma intensa atividade de redes inter- -organizacionais pode ser promotora de processos inovadores com impacto na saúde das populações.
