Resumo: This dissertation presents a situation that's both theoretical and practical with the revitalization of Avanhandava St in São Paulo. It documents and discussed the creation and implementation of the project that turned such street in a boulevard. This essay intends also to propagate two important points towards architects and urbanists. The first one is to show a new way of living and sharing activities, involving the society in public spaces by associating commercial streets and municipal governments. The objectives are to present a simplified legislation that allowed for a better search for resources and also that adaptation and revitalization projects would become a reality at a quicker pace. The second point is to present the tools of urbanism that made it possible for Avanhandava St to become a boulevard following universal urban drawing and also the simplification of traffic, internationally known as "Traffic Calming". Our intent is make architecture and urbanism students familiar with the language and tools of this practice, keeping in mind the interests of both pedestrians and drivers in order to provide pleasurable and safe public spaces. Last, this dissertation has the purpose of demonstrating how important it is for professionals of architecture and urbanism to participate, discuss and be part of associations that promote advances and improvements to work and living spaces.
