Resumo: Significant changes have occurred during the last decade concerning the concept of coeliac disease, including the recognition of non classical forms of clinical presentation and the implementation of serological tests with high sensibility and specificity. The authors have studied retrospectively several outpatients, previously diagnosed as having adult coeliac disease. Based on this study, they review the mbject, giving special attention to the difficulty of the diagnosis itself, in particular the so called sub­clinical forms and to the good results which mually are obtained when the patient follows a glutenfree diet.

Os autores estudaram retrospectivamente os doentes seguidos em consulta externa com o diagnóstico de doença celíaca do adulto.
