Literature has been showing that compassion, while intentional sensitivity to suffering with a commitment and motivation to alleviate, can have a positive impact on the individual's life and is associated with your emotional and psychological wellbeing. It is now widely recognized the relevance of interventions focused on compassion, for the development of reliable tools for assessing the various facets of this concept / process at different ages is crucial for research and clinical practice. Attributes and Actions Scale newly developed, seeks to assess the three directions of compassion: in relation to itself, in relation to others and should receive compassion from others. Each of these scales separately evaluates the attributes and compassionate actions of the individual face a difficulty or suffering. The aim of this study is to present the adaptation of Attributes and Actions Scale, for teenagers, followed by analysis of their dimensional structure and evaluation of the psychometric characteristics. The sample consisted of 336 Portuguese adolescents aged 12 to 19 years. Exploratory factor analysis showed that, except for the attributes section of the selfcompassion of scale, other scales (including the respective sections) are onedimensional. The selfcompassion attributes section revealed the existence of two factors. The three scales showed good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of between 0.75 and .91) as well as an excellent temporal stability (r values ranged between 0.96 and 0.99). Still showed a correlation in the expected direction with the variables associated with wellbeing and maladaptive emotional processes, attesting to their convergent and divergent validity. The results show that the is a reliable and useful tool for the evaluation and research of compassion in its different dimensions. |
