What story is this? –These are some of the questions we ask ourselves when we are faced with the object that supports and motivated this paper -the text by Almada Negreiros –“A Taça de Chá” (The Cup of Tea). In order to find the answers to these questions, an attempt will be made to identify the forms and constructions that allow the reader to (re)construct the reference associated with the story being told. Thus, based on the description of the different sequences that make up this text, it is discussed which mechanisms allow us to highlight the semantic values that the different textual configurations bring about.
