Resumo: In this article, we analyze epigram 4.53 and the caricature of the false cynic it contains from a double perspective. On the one hand, the examination of the context and of the skeptic motif at the strictly literary level allows us to confirm the footprint of the Helle-nistic epigram as a source of inspiration, as well as the thorough work of rewriting carried out by the poet from Bilbilis. On the other hand, the consideration of the epigram as an ekphrastic product gives evidence of the relevance of artistic manifestations in Martial’s text, while also highlighting the reciprocal influence of art and poetry in his work.

Por un lado, el examen del contexto y del motivo escóptico desde el plano más puramente literario permite reafirmar la huella del epigrama helenístico como fuente de inspiración, así como la minuciosa labor de reescritura que ha llevado a cabo el bilbilitano. Por otro lado, la consideración del epigrama como un producto ecfrástico evidencia el peso que las manifestaciones artísticas revisten en el texto de Marcial al tiempo que subraya la mutua influencia entre el arte y la poesía en su obra.Dans ce texte nous analysons, sous une double perspective, l’épigramme 4.53 et la caricature du faux cynique qui en fait partie. D’une part, l’étude du contexte et du motif scoptique, sur le plan purement littéraire, nous permet de soutenir combien l’empreinte de l’épigramme hellénistique fonctionne comme une source d’inspiration et combien la récriture réalisée par le bilbilitain découle d’un un travail méticuleux. D’autre part, l’épigramme, considérée comme un produit ekphrastique, prouve bien l’importance que revêtent les manifestations artistiques dans le texte de Martial et l’influence mutuelle entre art et poésie.Neste texto, analisa-se sob uma dupla perspetiva o epigrama 4.53 e caricatura do falso cínico que ele contém. Por um lado, o exame do contexto e do motivo escóptico no plano puramente literário permite-nos reafirmar a pegada do epigrama helenístico como fonte de inspiração, bem como o meticuloso trabalho de reescrita realizado pelo bilbilitano.
