Resumo: The history of the Middle East is full of conflicts, and religion is often a major driver in it. Such as sectarian conflicts that arise between different religious sects, or those that arise between the religious currents and military regimes that took power after the withdrawal of colonial powers from the region during the last century. The great ongoing conflict in Syria after what has become known as the Arab Spring revolutions is an ideal model in which we can read and understand the nature and dynamics of conflicts in the Middle East, the Arab region and the Islamic world in general.
