Nowadays, the use of smart phones for social interactions is more common than ever. With globalization and the economic growth, there was never so many people traveling for study and work. In a world on the path of becoming more and more digital, smart technology as IT apps developed have a central part on our daily life. Replacing face-to-face communication, with more hours of work and less hours of leisure, apps and social media are being used to fulfill the necessity of social gathering. In this study, the aim isto highlight the importance of developing an app that can improve tourists’ experience in their destination and their interaction with locals in terms of social connection, happiness and well-being. By applying a survey to analyze the use of social media on informal gatherings to play soccer and its importance for social linking, combining with the Literature Review that was made, this study makes a significant contribution in terms of identifying the most significant features that an app to connect local and visitor football lovers, should have. This project enabled to use the competence acquired in the Master Degree study in Tourism of Universidade Lusófona, applying the concepts obtained with my experience as a student of a different country, who arrived as a visitor but, with social connectivity and experiences lived, started to feel and become as a true local, in Portugal.
