Resumo: The De Diligendo Deo from Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153) is one of the most important works of the Cistercian monk. The aim of this paper is concerned in analyse the Augustinian sources. In fact, we know that the most important source of the monastic culture of the twelve century was, beyond the Holy Scripture, the Latin classic Literature and Patristic. Therefore, the Doctor Mellifluus is recognized by many scholars as "the foremost big French writer" and as the "last of the Fathers". This is precisely, what we want to prove in our study. And for that, in the sense that we pretend to verify some Augustinian elements, specially, in the sense how we must love God, that shows in the Augustinian language, the modus sine modo diligere.
