Resumo: The aim of this article is to promote the clarification around the sexual exploitation of children and the relationship between this crime and Brazilian hospitality and tourism, in a conceptual and theoretical perspective. Basing on the Brazilian experience for the prevention of child sexual exploitation, its outcomes have contributed to the formation of a network of guarantee rights in tourism, but also to highlight in the academy that the theme of sexual tourism is not a market segment recognized in the technically and politically. The document is based on a theoretical analysis of the technical point of view of tourism, its segments and also about the historical and legal, national and international framework on combating sexual violence that mistakenly (and commonly) is known as sexual tourism.

Alicerçando-se na experiência brasileira de prevenção à exploração sexual infantil e seus desenlaces, a qual tem não apenas contribuído para a formação de uma rede de garantia de direitos no turismo, como também ao esclarecimento académico sobre o tema do turismo sexual, não é um segmento de mercado reconhecido do ponto de vista técnico e político.
