The most important group on the plants were phytoseiid mites with 13 species; tenuipalpid and tetranychid mites were the commonest among the phytophagous species. Amblyseius herbicolus (Chant) was the dominant mite species in the three islands and on both cultivated and spontaneous vegetation.
