This report was prepared within the scope of a curricular internship carried out at the Central Criminal Court of the District of Lisbon. The internship started on September 15th and ended on January 30th, thus lasting four and a half months. Almost every day, I accompanied a group of judges, in which my internship supervisor is included, in the different tasks they perform. The internship was essentially about the trial phase, where evidence is produced and facts are analyzed, followed by a critical examination of the evidence and a decision rendered. Thus, after monitoring the diligences and consulting the respective processes, the report presented consists of a markedly practical part, where I will describe all the activities carried out. Furthermore, this report also comprises a part of further investigation, where I will deepen the institute of indirect evidence and its importance for the good decision of the case. In short, the purpose of the report will be to describe all the work carried out and also to present, based on the different trials witnessed during the internship and using jurisprudence and doctrine, a broad analysis of indirect evidence and controversial issues that it arouses.
