Resumo: Among several theories, the most general and well known, for those who study and practice architecture, is its ubiquity. Architecture is present in everything and make relations with several dimensions and social practices outside its own, sets itself as a dimension open to the world and in consequence it is born for him. As soon as the universe is composed of two opposite measures, put side by side in each plate of its balance, architecture also lives on the balance of its own dichotomies and confrontations. Then, this dissertation explores the complexity of the relationship between those dichotomies, using for that the parody concept presented by Linda Hutcheon in her book A theory of parody - teachings from XX century art forms (1985). Parody is considered an imitation of a text with derogatory sense, however, though the concept could contain occasionally the ridicule factor, it can also be a respectful relationship between the reference and the novelty, a play of opposites that allows the evolution. This evolution that takes place through parody as transformation agent does not mean to discredit the original text. Also architecture can take the existent as base to transform into new realities. Such as parody can contain two senses (respectful and derogatory), architecture can collide and allude to several things while brings progress, and sometimes it can be the imitation of the tendencies of mass culture, living in the illusion of the progress.
