A VIAGEM A "SÃO MARTINHO DE BORNES": a dilatação temporal e a imensidão espacial na descoberta do «eu»

Applying the precepts of Aguiar e Silva and Carlos Reis, we present an analysis of “São Martinho de Bornes” giving special focus to time, which dilatates and tends toward momentary staticity, and to the violent immensity of space, which allows a sweet discovery of the intimacy of the inner self. According to Doležel, this narrative is molecularly structured through the enchainment of axiological, deontic, and epistemic modalities. Concentrating on Onfray's studies on the geographical poetics, we propose to analyze the physical journey of the wild paths that the traveler follows from the park of Pedras-Salgadas to the top of the mountains of Bornes. Thereafter, we examine the introspective journey induced by the vegetation of trees, which according to Jung, Chevalier, Bachelard, Eliade, and Durand, constitute one of the oldest archetypes of the human spirit. At last, we analyze the anti-humanistic role that the traveler assumes and point out the importance of remembrance in the cementation of the journey in the human soul.
