Resumo: Patients with insulinoma (a relatively rare entity – about 10 cases per million inhabitants) are frequently seen in a number of out-patient clinics of diverse specialities before the diagnosis is made. Hypoglycaemia symptomatology frequently leads to these patients being referred for psychiatric evaluation.This was the case of the patient presented in this article, who was admitted for the fi rst time to an Internal Medicine ward, after several years of psychiatric medication.The authors describe the diagnostic and therapeutic methodology used in this case and make a theoretic revision of this pathology.
