The 60-item Portuguese version of the instrument most commonly used for the assessment of these factors, the HEXACO-PI-R, has already been subjected to studies that confirmed its psychometric properties. As such, this study aims to assess the psychometric properties – construct validity, concurrent validity, convergent-divergent validity, and fidelity - of the 100-item Portuguese version (HEXACO-PI-R-100).Methods: A total of 1080 people participated in the study, (63.1% female, average age: 28.39±13.16 years) 680 of whom were university students, with the rest being adults from the general population. Participants were asked to complete the following questionnaires: 100-item version of the HEXACO-PI-R, NEO-FFI-20, Dirty Dozen and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale. The questionnaire was filled out through online and paper surveys. For the assessment of temporal stability, a subgroup of participants completed the HEXACO-100 a second time two months after the first survey.Results: Regarding the factor analysis, the initial 2nd order model reported poor fit, prompting the removal of eight items and the correlation of errors for twenty-nine pairs of items with high modification indices. After this, model fit according to the various indices used ranged from fair to very good. The Cronbach’s alphas of the factors were between .80 and .87, while those of the facets were distributed between .38 and .85. The values of the test-retest correlations were between .510 and .852 for the factors and .192 and .826 for the facets. Good correlations were obtained between the factors of HEXACO and its facets. The study of convergent-divergent validity revealed significant, positive coefficient correlations between the homonymous factors of HEXACO-100 and NEO-FFI-20, a considerable correlation (of negative coefficient) between TN and Honesty-humility, and significant correlations of DASS with all the factors of HEXACO.Discussion: The Portuguese version of the HEXACO-100 demonstrated properties comparable to those of the original version and the Portuguese 60-item version, with acceptable factor structure fit (construct validity), as well as concurrent and convergent-divergent validities and internal consistency. As for temporal stability, higher test-retest correlations were expected for certain facets.Conclusion: The results of this study, in addition to supporting the use of this instrument for personality research with Portuguese samples, also suggest the usefulness of the six-factor model and reaffirm its advantages compared to the “Big Five”.Introdução: O modelo estrutural de personalidade “HEXACO”, proposto por Ashton e Lee após anos de estudos lexicais em diversas línguas e culturas, contempla seis fatores: Honestidade-humildade (H), Emocionalidade (E), Extroversão (X), Amabilidade (A), Conscienciosidade (C) e Abertura à Experiência (O). A versão portuguesa de 60 itens do instrumento mais utilizado para a avaliação destes fatores, o HEXACO-PI-R, já foi sujeita a estudos que confirmaram as suas propriedades psicométricas, pelo que o presente trabalho tem por objetivo avaliar as propriedades psicométricas - validade de constructo, concorrente, convergente-divergente e fidelidade - da versão portuguesa de 100 itens (HEXACO-PI-R-100).Métodos: Participaram no estudo um total de 1080 pessoas (63.1% do sexo feminino; idade média 28.39±13.16 anos), 680 das quais eram estudantes universitários e os restantes adultos da população geral. Foi solicitado o preenchimento dos seguintes questionários de auto-resposta: versão de 100 itens do HEXACO-PI-R, NEO-FFI-20, Dúzia Negra e Escala de Depressão, Ansiedade e Stresse. O preenchimento do questionário foi realizado através de inquérito online e em papel. Para o estudo da estabilidade temporal, um subgrupo de participantes preencheu o HEXACO-100 uma segunda vez dois meses depois da primeira recolha.Resultados: Na análise fatorial, o modelo inicial de 2ª ordem revelou maus índices de ajustamento, e isto motivou a remoção de oito itens e a correlação dos erros de vinte e nove pares de itens com índices de modificação elevados, tendo-se assim obtido índices de ajustamento de sofríveis a muito bons. Os alfas de Cronbach dos fatores ficaram entre .80 e .87, enquanto os das facetas distribuíram-se entre .38 e .85, e os valores das correlações teste-reteste foram entre .510 e .852 para os fatores e .192 e .826 para as facetas. Obtiveram-se boas correlações entre os fatores do HEXACO e as suas facetas. O estudo da validade convergente-divergente revelou correlações significativas e de coeficiente positivo entre os fatores homónimos do HEXACO-100 e do NEO-FFI-20 e de coeficiente negativo entre a TN e a Honestidade-humildade, bem como correlações significativas da EADS com todos os fatores do HEXACO.Discussão: O HEXACO-100 em português demonstrou propriedades comparáveis às da versão original e à versão portuguesa de 60 itens, com bom ajustamento da estrutura fatorial (validade de constructo), bem como validades concorrente e convergente-divergente e consistência interna.
