Resumo: | Construction Industry mobilizes considerable resources, either preceding or succeeding the process of construction itself, so it represents an important item of the Gross Domestic Product. Construction, which is a good image of the economic situation of a Country, ought to be seen as something essential to its development and therefore it should use methods that lead to a continuous improvement. With the purpose to guide Construction to reach levels of adequate efficiency and productivity, a new production paradigm appears, Lean Construction, derived from Lean Production. Lean Production arises in Japan, in car industry, and includes several concepts and procedures which generate a more efficient production, almost waste-free. Due to the encouraging results of this method the intention to apply it to Construction began to develop; however as it is an industry with quite different features from line production, it was necessary to adjust it creating, in this way, Lean Construction. This paper aims to present and explain principles, concepts, basis and tools of this new philosophy, mainly the ones related to Construction Management. |
