The climte changes and our impact as species on the planet as always fascineited me as a person, leading to a curiosity to find out methods to fight the increasing detioration of the enviromment. The present dissertation reflects in me the importance of architecture as na industry with a big scale of impact that can assume a diferente role face to the everyday envirommental problem. Nowadays, the demands that are done to architecture are loking for the development of the sistems and strategies that act efectly and with equal intensity in response of the natural envirommental wear and levels of confort and the quality of ife that the human beeing is used to have. The bioclimat architecture comes up in tis investigation as passive action on her impacto on the environemment without harm on high levels of thermical confort already achived. The Alentejo's region comes up as a delmitation área for the research in wich the climatic circumstances presente caracteristics that requier interior air temperature cooling mecanism from housing. It is in this cooling that the bigest impact and energetic consumption concentrate, so i consider this region to have big relevance for the developing theme - bioclimatic strategies in contemporany architecture. The vernacular arquitecture come up like a file full of strategies and knowledge preserved until today, showing a rich variaty of solutions that respond to the climatic hostility and can be importante from a bioclimatic point of view.
