Resumo: | This dissertation analyzes ethnographic drawing as a method of studying and representing inhabited space, focusing on its contribution to the emergence of broader narratives that are committed to the "invisible" stories and/or dynamics that build this space. In this context, the inhabited space is understood as a constructed (physical) space in which people reside. The dissertation is divided into two parts. The first part analyzes the participatory modes of architectural representation through case studies that communicate different perspectives about a place using various tools, such as video, photography, drawing and cartography. However, the representations and narratives about the ways of inhabiting a place in these case studies are made primarily through close observation and dialogue with their inhabitants. The second part presents the study carried out at the Complexo Habitacional da Bouça in Porto, designed by architect Álvaro Siza. The study is aimed at identifying the modes of use and appropriation of common spaces in this neighborhood through ethnographic drawing. The study also aims to further critical reflection on what we create as architecture. Additionally, it seeks to understand what we propose as space and a more collaborative construction of inhabited space through other types of discourse. In this way, the methodology developed for this dissertation is rooted in bibliographic and documental research, interviews, and field work, employing ethnographic drawing as the primary method. This dissertation also dialogues with authors that contribute to ways of thinking of drawing as a tool for analyzing architectural and urban spaces, such as Karina Kushnir, Rafael Fonseca, Philip Cabau, José Mapril, Sónia de Almeida, Orlando Mollica and João Manuel Ramos. |
