Resumo: Introduction: Pediatric Palliative Care aims to improve the quality of life of the child, young person and family, with complex chronic diseases, limiting or life threatening, however, there are several that, even with criteria, never get to be referenced, and those that are, tend to occur late in the disease trajectory. Objectives: To identify scientific production on the topic of Referral in Pediatric Palliative Care. Methodology: Integrative Literature Review carried out in the databases: CINAHL Complete; MEDLINE Complete; Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, available on the EBSCO search engine, published between 2012 and 2022. The selection and analysis of relevance of articles was performed by the reviewers independently. Results: Of the 231 initial articles, 13 articles were selected, according to previously defined criteria. There is a need to identify, as early as possible, opportunities for referral of the child and family to Pediatric Palliative Care, recognizing its benefits. The beliefs and attitudes of health professionals, and the lack of knowledge regarding Pediatric Palliative Care, may be barriers to referral. Conclusion: This work aims to highlight the importance and benefits of early and adequate referral for Pediatric Palliative Care, and how the Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health can intervene in order to facilitate the process.
