Resumo: The so called Cognitive and Neurosciences are key disciplines to a better understanding of human ways of thinking and behaviour. The present article shows by the help of a short example (the so called Columbus- Letter) how the analysis of historical and literary sources can benefit from them. New issues can be launched by asking for the way how we think instead of only looking for what we think. Especially exact sciences expect from the Arts and Arts' research insight view on experimental forms that stay close to the limits of communication.

Hier wird der Versuch unternommen, an einem kleinen Beispiel (des deutschen Kolumbusbriefes) zu zeigen, wie auch die Arbeit an historischen und literarischen Quellen sinnvolle Anregungen in den Kognitionswissenschaften finden kann. Neue Fragen können sich dadurch ergeben, dass man bei der Analyse solcher Quellen nicht nur versucht herauszufinden, was wir denken, sondern wie wir denken.
