Resumo: The implementation of reforms in doctoral education, with the application of the Bologna Declaration, has brought new challenges to universities as well as indicates the need to understand what is meant by this same training. This study aims, through the consultation of a panel of experts from five Portuguese universities, to understand what the is purpose of the first curricular year of a doctoral program and identify which competences related with research methodologies in education should be developed and what strategies can be promoted to this development. Based on the interpretive paradigm and of a qualitative nature, the study was carried out through a survey of open-ended questions, and a content analysis was made using qualitative analysis software. The results show that there is no consensus but diversity in perspectives from the experts on competences to develop and on the strategies to promote these competences. One of the emerging findings of this study points to the need to propose a framework of competences related to research methodologies.

Cette étude vise, à partir d’une consultation auprès d’un panel d’experts de cinq universités portugaises, comprendre quel est l’objective de la première année scolaire d’un programme doctoral et identifier les compétences liées aux méthodes de recherche en éducation qui devraient être développées et quelles stratégies peut-on promouvoir pour ce développement. Basé sur le paradigme interprétatif et de nature qualitative, l’étude a été réalisée au moyen d’un questionnaire avec questions ouvertes et une analyse de contenu a été effectuée à l’aide d’un software d’analyse qualitative. Les résultats montrent qu’il n’y a pas de consensus, mais une diversité de perspectives chez les répondants sur les compétences à développer et les stratégies à mettre en place. L’une des conclusions émergentes de cette étude souligne la nécessité de proposer un cadre de compétences liées aux méthodes de recherche.A implementação de reformas na formação doutoral, decorrente da aplicação da Declaração de Bolonha, veio trazer novos desafios às universidades assim como indicar a necessidade de compreender o que se pretende com essa mesma formação. O presente estudo visa, através de uma consulta a um painel de especialistas de cinco universidades portuguesas, compreender quais as finalidades do primeiro ano curricular de um programa de doutoramento e identificar que competências relacionadas com metodologias de investigação em educação devem ser desenvolvidas e que estratégias podem ser promovidas para esse desenvolvimento. Assente no paradigma interpretativo e de natureza qualitativa o estudo foi realizado através de um inquérito por questionário de respostas abertas, tendo-se efetuado posteriormente uma análise de conteúdo realizada com o recurso a software de análise qualitativa. Os resultados mostram que não há consenso, mas sim diversidade de perspetivas no painel de inquiridos sobre as competências a desenvolver e estratégias de promoção dessas mesmas competências.
