Resumo: | With the present dissertation, to obtain the masters degree in architecture, its proposed to do a project essay on the Santiago's Ways, specifically in the city of Braga. This essay will have as its core the intervention in a 16th century manor house, available and prosper to the expansion of religious tourism, through the design creation of a hostel for pilgrims on the Santiago's Ways, since they were recently reactivated in the city without any equipment for that purpose. But it also serves as a contribution to the inclusion and humanization of society through the inclusion of the homeless people, a purpose already used. With the theme, it's aimed to reflect on disciplinary design themes in the aforementioned house, as it is an "intervention in the built" and will lead to the equation of how the building will be able to adapt to a new use by short-term users, pilgrims, and long term users, homeless people. The motivation for the realization of this dissertation holds with the fact of being a marginal subject, for the precedent studies leave a lot of problems in the open and the recovered data are still not enough, therefore, its approach is relevant. This dissertation is organized in three chapters. In the first, of framing, trying to analyze the city of Braga in a geographical and historical-religious context, in a convergence with the central theme of the dissertation, as it allows the study of the worked house, in time and space. The second chapter organizes in three problematics. In the first one, the Santiago's Ways is approached, addressing this approach both at European level, as well as in Portugal and, more specifically, in the Braga area, since the pilgrims will be one of the users of the space therefore it´s necessary to understand their beliefs and routines. The second characterizes the homeless, as this will be the other user of the space. The third reflects on the house through design problems, which arise from it and influence it as a space and its two previous groups. After this broader characterization, there is a third and last chapter, where a design approach is carried out with a proposal for a pilgrim hostel and the redefinition of the homeless lodging, reflecting an adapted strategy and its condition, including the corresponding rigorous drawings. |
