Overwhelming texts and poorly-constructed visualizations may only add more noise and distraction to the news reading process. We propose enhancing the capability of the treemap with advanced analytics and interactivity to create a straightforward and space-efficient visualization cluster for news. We use web scraping techniques to collect and visualize the latest news. We improve the interactivity of the treemap to allow users to analyze their favored news articles and topics further. Then, we embed a topic modeling application called MapIntel and its database to enhance the analytical capability of our application. And finally, we add a temporal analysis visualization.
