Resumo: The digital era has opened doors for countless opportunities for publishing organizations and journalists, and it has increased the number of challenges, in particular related to the business model sustainability. The media companies' management is facing a variety of profound and disruptive challenges that come to significantly challenge various media industry's rationale. This paper intends to understand media business models sustainability and challenges and how managers are reacting and adapting their practices in this industry within digital transformation and in a progressively more competitive market. So, the central research questions of this work are: RQ1.Which are the main strategies and management practices that newspapers companies are implementing in order to achieve the sustainability of their business model and funding? RQ2. What is the extent to which digital newspaper revenue sources are growing and how does the funding model for American newspapers differ from European newspapers? This paper is based on 6 interviews (out of a total of 90 what is the relevance of the other 84 interviews if not used?) with the North American Newspaper Companies' Executives (United States of America and Canada).
