Resumo: Urban ecosystem services' and 'green infrastructure' are increasingly seen as conceptual frameworks tailored for holistic approaches to the multiple benefits associated with urban green areas, being seen as an opportunity to overcome sector-oriented approaches for the multiple aesthetic, recreational, ecological and environmental issues in cities. Following a review of the main moments in the construction and application of both conceptual frameworks, we discuss the potentials for conceptual and methodological integration of 'green infrastructure' and 'urban ecosystem services' as a promising way for holistic approaches to ecological services in cities.
