Resumo: E depois da hepatite nÃo-A, não-B (NANB) veio o vírus da hepatite C. Corria o ano de 1989. Dois eventos marcariam em 1989 o futuro, agora presente da Humanidade: a queda do muro de Berlim e a agitação na Praça de Tiananmen. O mundo médico e a virologia assistiam também ao início da queda de um vírus. O mundo mudou com a publicação de cinco páginas na revista Science1,2 em que se relata a identificação do vírus da hepatite C e a disponibilização de um teste serológico para a deteção do anti-vírus da hepatite C (VHC).
