Resumo: Objectives: Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) is one of the treatments for chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), with recurrence rates between 4 and 60%. The main goals of this work were to evaluate the results of FESS and to identify independent predictors of disease recurrence after 1 year postoperative. Material/Methods: A retrospective, single-centre study from 2014 to 2018, that included all CRS patients submitted to FESS. Several variables were used to perform a bivariate and regression analysis. Results: The recurrence rate after 1 year of surgery was 11%. Smoking and Lund-Mackay score were independent predictive factors for disease recurrence after 1-year postoperative [OR 7.75 (p=0.006; 95% CI 1.8–31.1); OR 1.14 (p=0.042; 95% CI 1.1–1.29)]. Conclusion: CRS patients who were active smokers and those who had higher pre-operative Lund-Mackay scores presented greater recurrence rates after 1 year of FESS.

Conclusion: CRS patients who were active smokers and those who had higher pre-operative Lund-Mackay scores presented greater recurrence rates after 1 year of FESS.Objetivos: A cirurgia endoscópica nasossinusal (CENS) é um dos tratamentos para a rinossinusite crónica (RSC), estando descritas taxas de recidiva entre 4 e 60%.
