A interligação entre as tecnologias computacionais e os processos artísticos contemporâneos: reflexões baseadas na criação coletiva de uma instalação

Resumo: This thesis document, produced for the Multimedia Master Course, presents the development of experiences and the balance of collective interventions, done by the artists involved in the materialization of FACIAL MEMEX installation. This work took place during the academic year 2014/2015 of the Multimedia Master Course.The experiments of Nuno Ferreira and Albano Martins acquired an exploratory trait, asserting itself as a research field, able o cross several technological and artistic contents.The development of the interactive installation FACIAL MEMEX proved to be a featured interdisciplinary practice by matching problems and concepts introduced by each author, as well as the adoption of collaborative experimental methods, capable of carrying the action of the authors to creative new contexts and new intellectual attitude, all done in a search for an adjustment of different values, technical and technological interests. The technologies interfere in the way of thinking about art, through the reconsideration of the methodological development and a reframing of artistic practices. The existing triangulation between production, the artwork and its experimentation, caused a segmentation, both in research and dissertation document, in three main blocks, dealing with different types of analysis performed: at first it has to do with the production of the installation, the authors contact with the artwork and the production process; a second phase analyzes the object of the installation itself, in the conceptual perspective and according to various theoretical frameworks; finally, in the third moment we carried out the analysis of the established contact, between the installation and the human viewer who interacts with the artwork and has a centered participation, it is the reception and the experience carried out by the artwork user.In the presented theoretical frameworks, we integrated knowledge acquired during the MM that was used during the production process, we are referring to stages of development, methodology, conceptualization and production, and we refer specifically to matters such as databases, digital networks and cyberspace, the interfaces, analog and digital information, hardware and software, as well as other matters related to the observer's inclusion, his immersion and performativity. In this written document we present the results of a daily debate between the two authors, around their connection to computer technology as producers of art and deals with the relationship established between the human receptors and the artistic object, taking into account all the involved media and the today's technological undeniable condition.Keywords: Art, Technology, Installation, Software, Digital, Devices, Databases
