Resumo: In 1639, the missionary Francesco Sambiasi, S.J. (1582-1649) offered the Chinese Emperor Chongzhen a map of the world, of which no copy has survived. Even so, it is assumed that this map was based on the same prototype from which the six copies of the only known map of Sambiasi were made, one of which is reproduced in this catalogue, belonging to the collection of the University Library of Gent (Gand) in Belgium.
