Resumo: The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the performance of non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) in recognising trisomy 21 (T21), trisomy 18 (T18) and trisomy 13 (T13) in twin pregnancies. Web of Science, Medline and ClinicalTrials databases were searched electronically from January of 2020 up to 24th of December 2020. Studies were selected based on eligibility criteria and availability regarding outcome data. Out of 280 identified titles arising from the search strategy, 11 studies were included. Of these, four corresponded to twin pregnancies and seven concerned singleton pregnancies. In the primary target group, detection rate as well as specificity was outstanding as for T21. The equivalent cannot be assumed for T18 and T13 due to the reduced number of studies reporting accuracy. The performance of NIPT for all aneuploidies in singletons was up to the mark and as predicted from prior studies.
