Escola e Apropriação do Espaço. Efeitos socioespaciais no quotidiano escolar

Resumo: Having as a backdrop the school buildings modernization program led by Parque Escolar E.P.E., and based on the participation in the research project ESCOLAS: Complexidade e Interpretação, this dissertation focuses on the socio-spatial impacts on the school environment through the perspective of the student's appropriation. More precisely, it intends to deepen the meanings and uses developed in the spatial context, by interpreting not only the relations between students and school spaces, but also the interferences that transformed them in the light of this user group. As spaces of socialization, school buildings materialize the place where spatial characteristics play a key role in the students teaching-learning process, whose interrelation transcends the architectural dimension. Thus, this research aims to deepen the human component of school architecture, using the knowledge of complementary areas of Architecture, such as Anthropology, Sociology and Environmental Psychology in order to optimize the comprehension of both the meanings and uses in the school environment. This study is rooted in the work that has been done by the research group, as well as in the observation and collection of information given by students, who shared some of their personal experience through a survey. This inquiry provided a deeper insight of the different interactions between them and their school environment. In this way, the present dissertation seeks to study the students' forms of appropriating school spaces, with the goal of understanding the experiences, routines and ways of inhabiting the school.
