Poetry, philosophy and mysticism are frequently seen as human experiences belonging to different spheres. They are often presented as divorced realities. The purpose of this article is to show how the Spanish thinker María Zambrano, especially in the essays that make up the book Philosophy and Poetry, seeks to delineate the divisions and the areas of convergence between these discourses. To achieve our aim of pointing out this possibility of reconciliation, we will see: 1) how some events in Zambrano’s life were fundamental for this elaboration; 2) the common origin and distinctions between poetry and philosophy; and 3) possible approximations, particularly taking mysticism into account. In the end, we intend to show how Zambrano, in a certain way, practises what she preaches.
